Annotation : Danza Latino di Maria del Real is the final work in the set of 3 Latin Dances by Patrick Hiketick. The work is longer than the other two in the collection and the most difficult. Hiketick extends the range of the Bb clarinet to A 4 and employs frequent sections of hocketing between the players. There are also consistent passages of offbeats, which can prove to be difficult for players with weak internal rhythm. As with the Merengue , this movement is quite challenging for the second clarinetist. In addition to its being in bass clef and extending to C 1 , the bass clarinet part features an extended solo that consists of fast repeated triplets that span the entire range of the instrument.
