Annotation: At only five minutes long, this quartet is a challenge for all parties involved. The first clarinet part is the most challenging of the four, featuring an extended range, technical runs, and even a cadenza. Rhythmically, the parts are quite independent, requiring ensemble members to be familiar with not only their parts, but also the parts of the other members. This is one of Michael Kibbe’s most challenging works for clarinet ensemble.
