Annotation : Eric Mandat’s Ritual is an interesting work for clarinet duo that requires choreography. The composer has indicated in the parts the movement of each player. There are moments in this work in which each player must press keys of the other player’s instrument. There are also indications for movement from offstage to onstage. The composer also notes in the program notes that the work is can be performed on its on but it is intended to be a companion piece to his work Black Swirls (2004). It is also indicated that the work should be memorized for ease of performance in accordance with the choreography.
