Annotation : Zaimont’s Folksong Fantasy takes a simple melody and builds it throughout this six minute piece. The work features frequent tempo changes and fermati, making communication between ensemble members extremely important. Though the work is not as technically demanding as others, the individual parts are more separate than other works in the same grade level. The range extends into the altissimo, but only briefly in the first clarinet part.
