Annotation : Johann Friedrich Grenser was a well-known woodwind instrument maker from Dresden who also pursued composition. His works included music for solo and chamber woodwinds as well as orchestral overtures and ballets. These manuscript for these duos was discovered in a collection of music owned by the Collegia musica in Lititz, Pennsylvania and Salem, North Carolina. Each duet in this collection features three movements in classical forms common to the era such as minuet and trio. Overall, the work is approachable in technique, musicality, and range and would be ideal for sightreading practice in lessons.
