Annotation : Composer Mike Curtis has written many works showcasing his knowledge of the genre of klezmer. This collection of ten duos presents the various dance styles utilized traditionally in the style such as doina, freylach, tanz, and bulgar. Each duo has written basic ornaments such as trills and grace notes, but the composer encourages performers to learn to add the other fundamental ornaments of klezmer music in their performances. As such, this collection can be used as a teaching utility for klezmer music in general. The range of the duos to E4 , but in frequently in klezmer, the second occurrence of melodic material should be raised an octave. This will require a wider range, but isn’t required in the performance of the duos, it is merely a performance practice suggestion.
