Cavallini was highly attuned to the instruments capabilities and as such, did as much as he could to display them in his works, such as these study duets. The two parts are equal in demand, requires agile fingers and fast articulation. There are three movements in each duo, and similar to the duos of Bouffil, they follow the fast-slow-fast movement structure. The writing expands to G4 in both parts, and the composer frequently employs wide leaps that move from notes in the altissimo register to notes in the chalumeau or vice versa. ---- {{:cavallini_two_grand_duets.png?nolink|}}
