The rubric is separated into three major categories (Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced) and each major category is further divided into two grades for a total of six.General Descriptions of each division are as follows:

**[[iii|III]]** -- Music for clarinet students of intermediate level (middle/junior high students)

**[[iv|IV]]** -- Music appropriate for clarinet students nearing advanced level (high school/young college)

**Advanced**

**[[v|V]]** -- A significant musical work that requires a high level of technical and musical capacity

**[[vi|VI]]** -- Very challenging music that can pose challenges to even seasoned musicians/ensembles
