**Work** : Clarinet Rhapsody ---- **Composer** : David Bennett ---- **Difficulty Ranking** : [[iii|III]] ---- **Publisher** : Carl Fischer ---- **Year Published** : 1937 ---- **Instrumentation** : 2 Bb Clarinets, 1 Alto Clarinet, and 1 Bass Clarinet ---- **Potential Pedagogical Applications** : Articulation matching, intonation (octave, unison, and chordal), ensemble mechanics (frequent tempo transitions and fermati), phrase matching, solo passages, auxiliary instruments ---- **Sample Recording** : [[https://youtu.be/QlVgUy4-Bm0]] ---- **Where to Purchase Sheet Music** : [[http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/clarinet-rhapsody-sheet-music/4417186]] ---- **Annotation** : This work is written for mixed clarinet quartet, including alto clarinet. Though the instrument has fallen out of favor in composition, there are works in the band and clarinet choir repertoire that require students be able to play the instrument. As such, this work can serve as an additional place to practice tone development and learn the tendencies of the instrument. Written similar to any other rhapsody, the work features frequent virtuosic passages in the first clarinet part. The range extends to G 4 , but only in the first clarinet part. ---- {{:bennett_clarinet_rhapsody.png?nolink|}}
